Takanawa at Hiroshima-Nagasaki candle floating event in Iceland

Every year, 6th of August, in memory of the victims of Hiroshima and Nagasaki atomic bomb attacks a candle floating event is held at a pond in down town Reykjavik, Iceland. Takanawa participated in the event this year. This event was organized first more than 30 years ago, among others by Ms. Margret S. Bjornsdottir, head of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects of Takanawa.

On the above photo is Dr. Kaoru Nozu, Executive Representative of Takanawa Pharma, with Mr. Dagur B. Eggersson, Mayor of Reykjavik, and Ms. Shino, Japan Ambassador in Iceland, who is also on below photo putting candles on the pond.

In 2012, Takanawa organized Hiroshima Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Memorial Exhibition in Iceland. The official website of the exhibition can be seen here: www.HirosimaNagasaki.is

The exhibition came from Nagasaki Peace Memorial Hall for the Atomic Bomb and the exhibition was organized with the support of Japan Ministry of Health, Iceland Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Hiroshima City, Nagasaki City, etc.

11.200 guests visited and viewed the exhibition during the over 4 months' opening period. Of that number approximately 1.900 students from all levels (elementary, secondary and university) worked on assignments related to the exhibition after their specially organized study-visits.
